On art and other things

A little over a week ago, I discovered that I can paint.

That’s my first coffee painting, done with a spaghetti noodle. It looks like child’s play.

Art has taught me a lot of things, key among them is patience. A good piece requires a lot of time and effort, and great attention to details.

Love is in the details. 🙂

Moreover, I noticed that positive emotions result in good artwork, and doing art makes me happy. It’s a nice positive cycle that goes on and on, hence it is addictive.

What is art?

For me, art is the expression of the human spirit: happiness, loyalty, relationships, etc. it must be anchored to a thought, an idea, a reality that needs expressing or preservation. It is relatable.

Does art have to be elaborate and sophisticated? No, but the passion for it is what makes it attractive and beautiful.

Art should never be deliberately  abstract; art is rooted in humanity, and in deliberately manufacturing “art”, fidelity to the human spirit is lost. An artist should connect with his own work, (because it reflects his own or the reality around the artist) be able to understand it first before other people begin to perceive it.

Art helps one to know oneself better. It is in the rawness of artwork that one sees his own reflection, and others sense the beauty of humanity.

Art is love. Be it of country, of people, of music, or even of things that make people feel. When we preserve this love into tangible things, we create artwork.

In the end, it’s not really about the medium we use, but the truthfulness of an artist with his artwork. 🙂
